I have been in education for twenty-five years. When I was a senior in high school, I vowed I would never be a teacher. Fifteen years later I was one. I vowed when I went to college that I would never teach seventh graders yet I did that for most of my career. I often said I would never be a principal, but here I am. I have learned never say never.
I got my degree in Home Economics Early Childhood Education from UT Martin in 1980. Five years later I received my masters from UT Martin in Curriculum and Instruction. I graduated from Tennessee State in 2002 with an Ed.S. in Supervision and Administration.
All my experience has been in Tennessee schools. The first seven years of my career I served as a middle school teacher at S. Fulton Middle School in Obion County. The next fourteen years I worked in Williamson County at Grassland Middle mainly as a language arts teacher. The last two years I served as Assistant Principal to Fairview Middle. Eager to become a principal, I came to MNPS to become the principal at Stanford Montessori in 2003.
I enjoy reading, gardening, scrapbooking, and my twenty grandchildren. Simple pleasures such as walking, sitting in my backyard swing, and neighborhood get togethers provide energy to recharge my batteries. |
